Went out with John on Saturday to Burgh Castle-he was fascinated with all the crows that were flying around, while I happily wandered around the Churchyard (see Martha in the gallery). It got a bit freaky at one stage though-not sure what the official name for them is, but you know that in some churchyards, rather then just a headstone to mark a grave, there is kind of a brick built 'box', with the inscription on a concrete lid? Well as a kid I was fascinated with those, believing that the 'box' was built around the coffin, rather than the coffin being buried underground, so you can imagine my 'excitement' when i spotted one of those with a broken lid-now was the time to live a childhood ambition! There was a huge crack in the stone, so we stuck a speed light at one end, and I got the camera as close as I could, and took the shot. I looked at the display screen on my camera, and was pretty shocked to see what looked like a black, 'leathery' hand inside the grave. Morbid Net kicked in at this point, I was scared shitless but hugely excited all the same, while John decided that he really needed to go and get some more photo's of the neighbourhood crows. I moved the light slightly, re took the shot, and this time the hand was much clearer. Well, I say hand, what I actually mean is a black leather glove which had obviously been dropped through the gap solely to get sicko's like me all worked up!!
I obviously felt a complete arse afterwards, but it was a pretty exciting experience!! Sadly, it was so obviously a glove once the pic was on a screen bigger than a postage stamp, so there's really no point me posting it
I decided today that given I am loving this photography lark, and I'm big into all things Medical, that a career as a Medical Photographer might be quite fun. Sadly, it would seem you need a degree in photography before you can even get a trainee position, and the chances of me having the time, or the money to go off getting degrees are, well zilch really!! Still, I guess it would be less fun if it was my job anyway!
